Key West Trip

My husband and I just got back from Key West and during our trip we ate at some very good restaurants of which I just had to write about.

On Friday, when we arrived we had brunch at Pepe's Cafe. I swear, the place looks like it should be condemned when you see it from the outside; but don't let that discourage you. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which was OK. Then I tried my husband's steak omelet, and it was delicious. I highly recommend ordering this if you ever visit Pepe's. Pepe's Cafe

On Saturday, we were unsure where to eat and some of our friends had recommended Sarabeth's. This was a very nice and quaint restaurant. I ordered the Farmers Omelet which had sauteed leeks, ham, small chunks of potato with Gruyere cheese. It was very tasty... the combination of the leeks, ham and Gruyere cheese made it scrumptious; the pumpkin muffin on the other hand was not that good, a little dry and tough to eat. Sarabeth's

Sunday... this was the best meal all weekend.. We started with breakfast at Blue Heaven. If you want the best breakfast place in Key West.. this is it! It's sort of a backyard of a house. The food was out of this world. We went with a large group of people and we all shared our dishes. We had lobster omelet (a must try), some other shrimp and lobster with black bean sauce, blueberry pancakes, grits, bacon and steak omelet. Everything was superb, especially the lobster omelet. I definitely recommend trying this place for breakfast! Blue Heaven

Then there was dinner on Sunday and i must say the BEST meal of the entire weekend... Latitudes in Sunset Key. The food, service and view of the sunset were all equally amazing! It's a little price, but well worth it. We ordered the lobster bisque, oyster's Rockefeller, tuna tartar, beef carpaccio, stuffed tostones with pork (not my favorite), shrimp stuffed with crab wrapped in bacon, and the crab cakes. The only thing I will not order again is the stuffed tostones. The food, WOW!! I ordered the stuffed scallops with crab meat and risotto. The crabs were phenomenal, the risotto was OK, I've had better. We had Key Lime pie for dessert and I must say that it was the best key lime pie I've eaten in a long time. Don't leave the keys without eating at Latitudes. Latitudes in Sunset Key
